Sedgeford has a reputation for being one of the friendliest villages in Norfolk. It is situated within a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The village is just minutes away from the sea and some of the most stunning beaches in the UK. Sedgeford is surrounded by open undulating countryside, is rich in history. It's a great place to visit and with only 600 residents it's an idyllic place to live and work.
Grand Slam Learning Centre
The Grand Slam Learning Centre (GSLC) in Sedgeford is a partnership between Norfolk County Council's Children's Services, the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and Premier Racquets & Fitness (PRF) Tennis Club. Situated in the old members' entrance at PRF the centre was officially launched in November 2007 and is one of five Study Centres in Norfolk that use the appeal of sport to motivate young people in their learning. With funding from the DCSF and NCC the GSLC is able to provide an extended schools service that develops young learners' literacy, numeracy and ICT skills whilst boosting their self-esteem and confidence for free. To secure the future of the GSLC we are extending our services to include Adult Education. We have delivered a ten week free 'Computers for Writing Skills' course during the daytime as the schools use us in the evenings. With imminent funding cuts looming we are trying to maintain these free services or at least at reduced rates. For more details about the GSLC contact Adam Edwards on 01485 579385 or 07818457223, email adam.edwards@norfolk.gov.uk or visit our website www.grandslamlearningcentre.co.uk.
New Homes In Jarvie Close
On Monday 7th September, Henry Bellingham MP officially opened the ten new homes recently completed in Jarvie Close, planting a tree to commemorate the occasion.
Local residents, Parish, District and County Councillors were invited to the event, along with many of those who had been involved in the development. These included Hastoe Housing Association, architects Parsons and Whittley, contractors E N Suiter & Sons and Employer's Agent Alan Bunyan.
Built to high standards of design and construction, the homes have environmental features including ground source heat pumps. Local people have priority for these affordable houses, which have been built on land made available by Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council.
New resident Emily Moore said of her house, 'It's absolutely fabulous, we feel as if we're on holiday here'. Karen Rayner followed every stage of the project, visiting the site regularly: she and her husband love their new home and have already constructed a pond in the garden.

Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the 2009 Festival at St Mary's Church celebrated a selection of 'famous men'. Some were characters from the Bible, who had shown bravery, courage and strong belief. Others were Englishmen whose remarkable qualities and achievements have had an impact on our lives today.
The picture below shows one of the many displays: printed copies of these and all the other photos taken of the festival are available from Peter Goddard - pwgoddard@btopenworld.com
Keith Wright has been researching his family history and gathering information and photos from relatives. Below are a few images that Keith thought might be of interest to people visiting the web site.
If any readers have further information or photos on the history of the Buck, Keith would be pleased to hear from them.
